Cave Racing Memories

The 5th Annual Earl Grimm Memorial Race will be run this Saturday, January 3, 2009, at the Cave Speedway. This is a 150 lap, DOUBLE POINTS, late model event sponsored by WRK - Welsh Race Kars. A regular Pure Stock race is also on tap for Saturday following the late model feature. Racing starts at 7:30-ish! Start your New Year off on the right foot and come see us at The Cave!

Dwain Welsh of Winchester Virginia picked up the win in the pure stock show over Frenchy Bennington, Greg Hoard, Mike Parrill Sr, Tyler Williamson, and Possum. Heat winners for the night were Welsh himself and Possum picking up his first checkered flag at The Cave. The B main field would be filled out with C main winner Mike Parrill Sr who would waste little time finishing second to Greg Hoard. Finishing third in the B main was Frenchy Bennington and Tyler Williamson taking home fourth.

Tyler Williamson of Luray Virginia took the win in the 4th Annual Santa Claus 100 saturday night for his 2nd win in a row at The Cave topping a strong 15 car field. Heat winners for the night were Williamson, Frenchy Bennington, and Jason Lineweaver. Greg Hoard would outlast Mark Smith in the D main to advance to the C main only to have himself and Rick Williamson edged by mere feet by Andrew Tyson. But of course there's no rest for the weary at The Cave as Tyson would soon be thrown straight to the B main where Joe Shifflett, Mike Parrill Sr, and Matt Williamson would punch their tickets for the Big Show. The feature would have its share of lead changes with Joe Shifflett taking the lead going into the final segment. However the rotation would be unkind to Shifflett, sending him to the top groove with Tyelr being sent to the low side, but that didnt mean an easy time for Williamson as he would have to fend off challenges from every other driver with 6th place finishing only 4 laps...
