Cave Racing Memories

Rick wants everyone to know that the Little World 100 will be run next year at The Cave Speedway as usual. Thanks for all your support. There will not be a Little World 100 race this year. The Cave Speedway

Although Rick is right on schedule where his doctors said he would be, he has decided to cancel the rest of the racing schedule at The Cave EXCEPT for the Little World 100. He has been discussing running this race at another track. Details are still being worked out so keep checking back with us on the web site for the date/time/location. All of us at "The Cave" appreciate your many calls, cards, thoughts and prayers on Rick's behalf. We wish you and your families a wonderful holiday season and a healthy and prosperous New Year. We appreciate all of our racer's faithfulness and support in the past years and Rick said he will hopefully see all of you to kick off the 2012-2013 racing season with the Black Friday 100 in November of 2012!

As some of you may know, Rick has recently been diagnosed with tongue cancer and is currently undergoing chemo treatment at UVA in Charlottesville for the next 9 weeks. He will be able to take the treatments at home with subsequent follow up appointments at UVA. These treatments will be followed up by radiation therapy for about 7 weeks. We are all upbeat and confident that he will eventually be okay but due to the effects of the treatments the 2011-2012 racing schedule will be on a week to week basis. It is Rick's desire to get as many of the races in as he can but obviously his health comes first. Please keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers as he goes through this rough time. The Cave Speedway, celebrating its 8th year, has just announced its new schedule for 2011-2012. SEE YOU AT THE CAVE!

The Ol' Waylon Hunerd closed out the 2010-2011 racing season at the Cave Speedway Saturday night, March 12th, with Alan Sagi getting in touch with his "country roots" and claiming the win. Mike Parrill, Sr. was the fast qualifier with a lap time of 2.35 seconds. Ol' Waylon Hunerd results: Alan Sagi, 1st; Tyler Williamson, 2nd; Frenchy Bennington, 3rd; Paul Stump, 4th; Mike Parrill, Sr., 5th; Junior Cooper, 6th; and Rick Williamson, 7th. Junior Cooper was the fastest Pure Stock qualifier with a lap time of 2.69 seconds.
